I don't know how this question would be different for any other school (i.e., not just a Title I school), but typically, any question where parents are upset my standard answer is that I always listen to what there concerns are and try to approach it from a perspective that makes sense. So I'd ask how they are feeling about their child's progress first, then listen to what they have to say. I'd also always start with a positive to share and then share concerns.
