Never mind. I know any answers I get tonight will make me feel worse. Hope you all have a great rest of your week!

Our policy was to make sure doors to teachersí lounge were closed and no parents were in there. (Thatís a whole other issue.). Then we could vent.

But, given what your P said, I would be very careful. Share information, yes. Vent, maybe not.

Once the hospitalization occurred, discussing it willy nilly is now both a FERPA and a HIPAA violation. Yes, you need a release but you have to be very careful about it all. Always. But, it stinks that you shared with this person and they shared it again so carelessly.

And just a word too--You should really be very careful what is shared with your DH and how many other people know you shared with him at all. My own DH hears when I am frustrated or stressed but not usually the details of why. He also knows my students from visiting my classroom but doesn't know their personal info or diagnosis.

Frankly, it makes it easier in that he really doesn't want to know more. He cares only how it affects me. He doesn't need details for that.

I understand how you feel. Teachers are not perfect and I am sick and tired of people treating us like we can't make mistakes including other teachers.
You know what? Just take it as a lesson learned and never share anything with that teacher again. She was wrong and basically threw you under the bus.
