I am planning a project for the end of the year around my math and engineering standards and I am looking for a literature tie in.

The project is based on area and perimeter. We are building cardboard mazes and determining the area and perimeter of the maze -all mazes must be irregular shapes that can be calculated by determining the individual rectangles that can be put together to make the shape. The mazes will be build on jumbo graph paper that has been laminating and glued to a cardboard base to help the kids figure out the side lengths. My sped differentiation will be that I will label the side lengths and allow my lowest student to use their multiplication chart.

The students will then code ozobots to make it through the their maze using ozoblockly block based code.

Does anyone know of a novel that could tie in with this?

but The Librarian Who Measured The Earth might work. Good luck! Your project sounds wonderful!
