Tomorrow I had to call out for my third sick day of the week. I think I'm a little better but I'm not to the point where I can spring into action. I feel guilty please tell me not to feel guilty

Donít feel guilty. If you have the sick leave, then use it. Our job can be very draining and you need to be 100% so feel better and then go back to school.

No guilt is allowed. You need to stay home and take care of yourself. Everyone gets sick sometimes, and there is nothing to feel bad about. I'm sending you healing thoughts.

I understand- I feel the need to ask permission to stay out when I don't feel well. I agree that you need to stay out at least another day. Otherwise you will catch the next thing that is going around, and could spread what you have.

Feel better! You have the sick days for a reason!

I could have written your post except it's day two for me. Small Cath. school, only two subs in our list. I texted my P for his advice. I have multiple infections - sinuses, ears, throat...headache...upset tummy w/all the meds I need. My body says call in sick, my brain, not so much. It's our projects class day & there's no way to write sub plans for that. After explaining I needed the codeine cough syrup all day & that gathering and getting trash out to the curb meant I was on the couch for an hour, he decided not to wait for me to see how I felt in the AM. I am glad, but still feel guilty.

Honestly, I've never felt guilty for being out sick from work. I see why some people may feel that way, but that was just never me. It's something we can't control so why stress/worry about it? Rest and enjoy the peaceful time, which sadly might be THE ONLY peaceful time some people get (meaning some people might only have sick times to finally slow down and enjoy the quietness).

It's a job

I know it means more to us than that, but ultimately it's a job. Our friends and family who work in other fields don't eat themselves up with guilt over taking a few days to get better if they're ill. The world will go on without you. Your kids will be fine, your colleagues will be fine, everything will be fine. Dragging yourself in sick does nobody any good. You have no reason to feel guilty for taking care of yourself. You can't help your kids if you're in the ER battling pneumonia because you worked when you should have rested. Feel better!
