good set under $100. But wait until the January sales and go to a store like Macy's. Last year, I got a $280 knife set there in the "Last Act" section. It was marked down to $125. Henckel. Really nice knives.

That said, my son and I were at Macy's the other day in CA and they had a $69.00 knive set on sale for $9.00!!! No kidding.

We had a cheap set. Never used most of the knives. Several years back I too wanted a good set of knives. I did my research and saw over and over again the recommendation to start out with just one or two good knives. Thatís what I did. Buying a new block is very cheap. And the website I bought my knives from is Cutlery and More. They seemed to always have good prices. I started with a chefís knife and...I cannot think of the other type of knife, but itís my favorite style and smaller. Iím satisfied with my choices.

We have henckels and they are awesome. I only use three or four of them. They sharpen for free at our local William Sonoma too!

They are really nice. As PP said, when you get the block there are several in there that you probably wonít use. I made that mistake recently. Got a block of Henkels (12 knives) for less than $100 ( a special deal my friend and I thought we couldnít pass up) I donít need the block as it takes up too much counter space. Out of the 12 knives I will use only 3!!
Look at places like Tuesday Morning, Marshallís, and TJ Max. They sometimes have the single Henkels. If you are set on a block set look at Bed Bath and Beyond and you can use a coupon there.

I would go to a local resale shop and get them there. Go at the end of January People often get rid of their stuff to make room for their new utensils.
