mother-son wedding dance song

Please help me come up with some suggestions for a mother-son wedding dance song that is not sappy. I cry easily and don't want to sob through a dance.

My youngest son was married last June and we danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. My one additional recommendation is for your DJ to limit the length of your song to about 2-3 minutes. This was plenty of time for us to dance the East Coast Swing and get some really good moves in to the delight and applause of the audience. Any longer then you can lose their attention. DJ’s can easily fade the song out at an appropriate time so it doesnt end weird. Loved every minute of dancing with my guy!!

If you don’t want to cry pick something with an upbeat tempo. Forever young by Rod Stewart or somewhere over the rainbow ukulele version.

I've always loved "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It's upbeat and happy and not too long. I opted not to do the mother/son dance when our son got married. I'm not much of a dancer, but that's what I would have chosen.

Just a thought: it doesn’t have to be a love song. It can be a song that’s meaningful to you and your son.

My brother-in-law chose "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty for his father/ daughter dance when my niece got married. Pretty song and not real sappy.

I would go with an upbeat or non-mushy song. I'm really weird about crying in public, so I chose my dad's favorite mariachi song about a guy who is drunk and brokenhearted. I have the best picture of my dad and me laughing hysterically.

The funniest one I've seen is "Build Me Up Buttercup." It was an inside joke between the mother and son.

Other ideas:
"Ain't no Mountain High Enough"
"How Sweet it Is"
"Happy Together"
"God Only Knows"
"You Are the Sunshine of My Life"

It's ok if you get emotional. Weddings are filled with a wide range of emotions.

My friend and her son are big Red Sox fans, and they danced to Sweet Caroline. It was super cute and fun. Maybe something like that? Some fun song you share in common?

When DD got married she and her groom both chose classical and jazz to do the parent dance. No words meant no tears.

Great advice from a mother to a son. Makes me cry just thinking about it, but a good kind of cry.

My dad and I danced to Rod Stewart’s version of “Have I Told You Lately?” The dj knew where to cut it off so the dance wouldn’t go on and on lol.

Not what you’d usually think of as a wedding song, but this song is special to my son and me. He had a cassette tape with this song on it as a toddler and little boy. He LOVED this song back then, and we danced to it together many times 25 years ago! So it just seemed right that we dance to it one more time. It was very special to us.
