Interesting, Teddi. I donít know any of those places, but looked up my own zip and found a wonderful rating:
Nightlife A+
Do you suppose theyíre rating my happiness with staying home and watching TV in soft & comfy jammies?

The population alone would make me not even consider any of those.

Wow! That was interesting to look at. I ended up going to ZIllow and looking at some of the places for sale in those areas.

I don't think I've ever been to any of those counties!

I explored that site a bit more and looked up my zip code. I get an A+ overall! An A for diversity, A+ for schools, nightlife (where??), good for families, health and outdoor activities.... a B for weather (that high?),B- for housing (??), C+ for crime and safety (that really surprises me), and cost of living was C- (that high??).

It also said this zip code was in the top 5 for the state for good for best places to live and top 10 for best places for family. And that it was renter-heavy. My zip is like one long strip of apartments in this part of the city. I'm surprised at some of those grades!

I live in a low cost of living area. Not one listed but low. Our home is 3,600 square feet with a full basement. Gourmet kitchen, 4-5 bedrooms, hard wood floors throughout the entire house except the kitchen and sunroom which are slate. We have 15 acres, a 44x120 pole barn and a pond and stream plus lots of wooded area. A huge level backyard too. It is valued at $360,000.

I know I’m blessed. I would be lucky to get 1/3 of the house with no land for double+ the cost most places.

The thing that shocked me the most was our B rating for nightlife. We have a few dive bars but nothing else.

I didnít look at the entire list, but I saw several places nearby on it. We are rural which definitely isnít everyone preference. I love it, though. I looked up my county and we had a A for cost of living and a B+ for crime.

Our house is valued at $146,000. Four bedrooms. Two bathrooms. Brick, hardwood floors, wooded 1.5 acre lot, two-car attached garage, fenced back yard, single-car detached garage with storage. Maybe 2100sqft?
