So nice to stay in on a cold rainy day. Relaxing on the couch sipping a cup of Better Than Broth chicken bullion and crocheting. Retirement is wonderful!

What are you up to today?

I am sitting in my lounge chair with my laptop while watching Home and Family on the Hallmark channel. Retirement is wonderfully relaxing.

I went to the gym earlier and just finished lunch. I'll hang out for a while, and then DH and I are going out to buy a new stove.

I had to have a filling redone at dentist, not fun! I updated our death book for kids. Sitting with DH reading “The Guardians” by John Grisham. Very good book. Hopefully taking a walk soon but it is only 19 degrees out. Hmm...maybe a little cocktail hour instead.

I worked out with my trainer this morning. We did elipcal, ski machine, BOSU balance excerzises, and I pushed a sled with 100 lbs in weights down the gym and pulled it back. I had a terrific workout!

Went to grocery and spent too much money!

Now, I'm watching an old Bogie Bacall movie on TCM>

Cold and rainy here too. Went to bible study this morning and then fellowship for lunch with a group of lovely ladies. Brought DH food, so I don't have to cook for supper! Talked to my daughter in the middle of the day. Listening to a podcast. Reminds me why it is good to be retired.

We had a major ice storm yesterday and our town is shut down today. No school and the roads are dangerous. I canceled the Bible study at my house and have been binge-watching a few Netflix shows. Nothing productive is happening today at my house.

I take a 5:45 A.M spin class on Wednesdays and Fridays, so I was up before the sun. Came home, took a power nap, and headed to Costco to pick up my new glasses. Then, a friend and I took the dog for a walk, came home and took another power nap and am relaxing with the latest Michael Connelly novel. Retirement is the BEST!

Cold and crisp here....just the way I love it! I walked 2.1 miles and went to my yoga class. I just signed in to Acorn tv, a Christmas gift from my DD and I'll spend the evening catching up with Doc Martin.

Cold, rainy and gray here, just like it's been for the last 4 weeks.

Today I went to Bible Study in the morning, and then had a meeting in the afternoon at my old school for the Dyslexia Committee and now I'm working on pulling material together for my tutoring clients for tomorrow.

At some point I need to prepare for company on Friday.

Good evening to all-
Well, this morning first thing I took the chainsaw out back and proceeded to make BIG logs into smaller logs. We had three very large pine trees cut down and rather than pay the $800 to have the tree trimmers work the trees up and haul it away, I am cutting the logs up myself.
I used to cut much wood when we heated with wood in the Midwest. I find I can't get after the wood cutting and moving as I used to be able to do, but I can still get the job done- it just takes me longer.
I am reading Tony Hillerman books again. I find that I tend to re-read books that I've enjoyed before.

We've had supper now, and after a nice hot bath, i will finish the book I'm on. Tomorrow I may go back out and stack up the cut pine butts I made today. Or not.

good night to all- Ed

Are you planning to burn the pine in your fireplace?

A little off topic, but have you read any series by Bernard Cornwell?

Aggie's wife-
No, I don't have a fireplace anymore- these are not required down here on the Gulf coast. and anyway, pine wood is terrible in heating sources- smells bad, and loads up the chimney with creosote- very dangerous.

Yes, I have read Cornwell- He is a good writer, but he kills his protagonist's female objects of affection too dependably for me. Interesting plots, but pretty bloody.

I'm working on an article for a magazine- my recipe for blackened redfish. It appears I have to go fishing this weekend to catch a redfish to cook up for photos for the article. Tough job, but I'm willing to do it.

good morning to all- Ed

Ed --
Well at least the article will pay off in three ways: you get paid for the article. You have an enjoyable, quiet, relaxing morning fishing. And you get a delightful meal! Sounds like a win-win.

Enjoy!
