Surprise Four-Day Weekend

This afternoon we found out that we are off school until Tuesday due to illness. All activities have been cancelled, and only admin and custodians are allowed in buildings.

Our building had awful attendance the last couple of weeks, but the rest of the district hasnít been too bad until this week. We cane keep any continuity due to kids being out. We have had kids with mostly Flu A, Flu B, & strep, but Iíve also had some with bronchitis, tonsillitis, stomach bugs and mono.

I cleaned every cleanable surface in my room yesterday and again today before I left.

Snow days are way more fun, but Iím not complaining about extra days off.

I hope you stay well and enjoy your time off from work. Hopefully the break will help prevent more people from catching the flu or whatever is going around.

I hope the building gets disinfected and everyone returns feeling better. I wish my district did that. They took away the February Break we had years ago, and that time off was great for getting rid of germs and illnesses. We have had periods of illness on the part of staff and students, but they never closed.

I wish we would close, but it seems to just be hitting certain grades. I have had 4 - 5 out each day for the past two weeks and sent another one home today while some classes have not had any out due to illness. I hate trying to keep up with who needs what make-up work!

Weíve had a lot of illness too, but we havenít had to close for that because weíre already closing for snow. Last week, two of our first grade classes out of seven had seven kids out. I didnít have any out, but I donít have kids sit facing each other during flu season, and we disinfect every afternoon. We had a four day weekend last weekend due to snow and MLK day, and were off today due to snow. Hopefully, that will keep the germ count down.

Yes. They add them to the end of the school year. Fortunately, we have only missed three days so far this year, which is far less than average.

That's great, enjoy! I have yesterday (Thurs) through Sun off completely free too, which is extremely rare. Yesterday can be a do-over for me though. It wasn't quite as relaxing and calm as I'd hoped, but today's a new day!
