Autism - visual schedule

Clip to ScrapBook #1

This year our school is enrolling six identified kinders with autism (spread out among 3 classrooms - all excellent teachers). All of these children will spend the bulk of their time in the gen ed rooms (lots of pullouts though for OT/PT, etc). I typically generate visual schedules for students, but am wondering if anyone knows of a site where I can get the cards already made? Am happy to purchase them.

The school has issued new computers (no disk drives) and external drives are few and far between. I'd like these schedules to be ready for the first week, thinking they can always be tweaked.

Thanks

Christine Reeves has some good resources. Here's her website.

The Autism Helper website is also really useful.

Free site or Boardmaker

I use this site. You have to enter the words though and upload the pictures so it takes a little more time than the pps' suggestions.

But it's free and you have an option to upload pictures you take and can save the card pages you make in a pdf.

I would also ask around and see if anyone at your school or in your district has a Boardmaker CD or subscription.

I haven't used it for years, but made many back then! It is probably improved! I'll have to check out the other suggestions...just in case!

Thanks all - I've only had a chance to glance at the websites, but they look great. So nice not to go through dozens of sites; I spend too much time doing that.

I do have the disks for Boardmaker, but w/the new laptops, no cd drive. I can get my hands on an external drive eventually (we only have a couple to share), but I need the visuals sooner rather than later. District does not want to pay for the online version...

Thanks again.

Two more resources

Hello,

I have another website:

www.do2learn.com

and another CD recommendation:

Pics for PECS at http://www.pecsusa.com/store/index.p...product_id=144

It can be loaded on with a CD drive, moved onto a Hard drive or ordered digitally.

It's only $59, has thousands of pics and formats, and offers B/W or color. Also, UNLIKE Board maker, once it's loaded on the computer, you can use it without the CD in there. You can also load it on more than one computer without it being a site license issue.

Thanks, Lottalove

That is definitely worth checking out (I have a little $ to spend so it is do-able). Not having to load the CD each time would be wonderful!
