PT doctors maybe TMI

I'm not sure if I should see a doctor for these symptoms: I've had diarrhea or very loose stools for about 2-3 weeks now. Sometimes there is such urgency that I feel like I can't go out and just need to stay home cause it comes on suddenly. Last night I went 3-4 times and stools ended up very watery (sorry). I also have a stomachache almost daily. During the week I can go 3-4 days w/out a bowel movement. Pains can range from the right lower abdomen to also the left and radiates up to my left chest area. Eating makes it worse. It is sometimes sharp but I think that's gas related. Finally, I've lost about 5 lbs in a month, but that may be because I went off the pill? Any ideas?

Please see a doctor. My doctors/ER will immediately see a patient with stomach issues as they can be serious.

You need to see your doctor. If you aren’t eating much and with diarrhea, that may be why you are losing weight. You could also be losing potassium and other important minerals and nutrients from your food. Please get checked.

Definitely see a doctor. I had similar symptoms when I had a gallstone. But you need to see whatís going on there.

Yep see a doctor- if you can a gastroenterologist. It could be anything from IBS to colitis to gallbladder to whatever. But anything like that needs to be seen.

For my ulcerative colitis the pain you are feeling is what I feel when I have a flair up.

There was a post here recently where a poster had similar symptoms, and after going to the doctor and having am X-ray done the diagnosis was an impacted colon. Iíd see a doctor to find out whatís going on.

Drop everything and go to the doctor. Go to the ER if you canít get an appointment ASAP. Diarrhea for that length of time is a red flag.

I would call the doctor tomorrow. You need to be checked out. It sounds similar to IBS, but other things need to be ruled out as well.

Feel better SOON!

Not to be contrary, but the BRAT diet is really more for when you are just starting to keep things down again after a "both ends" sort of bug. The BRAT foods are binding and help with the runs, and the foods are generally well tolerated. But the problem with BRAT is that it lacks a lot of nutrients and is quite unbalanced. After a day or two on it (again, after a both-ends bug), it's time to eat more protein and healthy fats. For long term diarrhea, eat what you can tolerate, going easy on greasy things and too much fiber.

And, yes, get thyself to a doctor.
