I take it back about easy shopping, the California version

Yesterday, when I cruised through “my” grocery store while out walking, there were just a few shoppers and there was TP. Today I had to wait in line for 20 minutes to get in because they were allowing 50 families in at once (who knew grocery shopping is a family outing—in my family no one wants to do it). They did have smaller amounts of many things, but they had everything on my list EXCEPT FOR TP. I checked dates and everything is even fresher than usual.

But I ask: who has all the TP?

You would think that it would be back in normal supply after the initial hoarding! I was able to order some from Amazon and then I should be good for awhile.

I placed my first ever online, drive up grocery order a few days ago and it includes TP. I pick it up tomorrow. Sure hope I get the TP! ( I only ordered one package, not trying to hoard.)

My guess is that stores don't want to put it out because there might be another rush of hoarders who will take more than their share - again!

It sure hasn't been Target! I was able to get some from Big Lots yesterday morning.

Since the end of last week, I've started asking stores when their TP shipments are and keeping note so hopefully ANY day or at least most days of the week I feel like it, someone has TP at one of the stores around here.

On March 15th though, I did do an Amazon TP order, which will arrive Apr 10 - May 1.

There hasn't been any around here (other than first thing in the morning on the day they get an order in) since this all started. Not knowing whether they will be able to get more has driven panic buying. Most places are now limiting the number of packs you can get but it's still all gone 15 minutes after it's put out.
I'm hoping to go to Costco's new senior hour next Tues to get some.

Our Hannafords which did away with drive up shopping. Just announced they will be opening from 6-7am Tue Wed Thurs for people over 60 only. Who ever thought you'd be 'carded' to grocery shop?

Most stores here have limits of two per person only for TP,bleach wipes, hand sanitizer, etc. we never found hand sanitizer anywhere. Thank goodness for the bleach wipes. Found a big two pack at target.

To get into our grocery store, there are two long ramps to get up from the parking lot. When we got there, just after the store opened, we were at the bottom of the ramp. Man went back to the car and waited until I was about half way up the second ramp, maybe 15 minutes. When he got back, the security at the door called for seniors to come in. I know I don't look like I'm 60 so they frowned at me until I pointed to my husband who is WELL over 60 and said, "I'm with him."

We didn't check for TP but I saw people who had it in their carts and no one was hoarding anything. There was one man who had many dozen eggs in his cart. I'm choosing to think he was shopping for his neighbourhood....

Who would have thought we'd have to start online ordering TP?!
I wonder how long the TP shortages in these stores will last?!
The Target stores still never have any in my area even when I was there when they said it should have been there...actually, I was at a different location from the other who told me.

I can't believe we have to do this, but I hope you're all asking the employees and keeping TP notes with the stores in your area, such as:

Target on Green St - Open 8a - T/Th (should be on shelves since shipments are M/W nights)

Target on Berringer Ave - Open 7a - W/F

Smart & Final - Open 10a - Check Sat/Sun

I'm keeping an email draft of this info. Then, there are YouTubers making videos on TP alternatives when you have no TP. Insane!

DH and I went shopping at Whole Foods during "senior hour," an hour before the store normally opens. They only let in people who were sufficiently old-looking. It was a great shopping experience because there were only a handful of shoppers. Some shelves were bare (potato chips, cereals, cookies, canned goods, flour, cleaning products), but there was some TP and plenty of (expensive!) produce. The WF bakery had lots of freshly baked bread and cookies.
While exiting the store we had to walk through a crowd of socially-distanced (6+ feet from each other) people who were waiting for WF to open to the general public.

I am sure there are people sick who work in TP factories. There are probably truckers who transport TP who are sick. Maybe companies who supply TP makers are having issues. Who knows? I am sure some wording is going on as well but I think there are other issues as well.

In looking for something else, I found this explanation about the toilet paper issues.
