Good vibes for DS please?

If you have time, can you cross your fingers/send good vibes/whatever you believe for DS tomorrow?

We have an appointment with a pediatric neurologist. The director/founder/head OT of our therapy center recommended the appointment and she’s coming with us. She’s got tons of documentation on how his anxiety is manifesting as do we. The kid is a hot mess.

She and his pediatrician have both warned us that the neurologist is probably going to recommend medication. (Not looking for opinions on that...)

I just want him to go and be his worst so that the doctor gets an accurate picture of what is happening and we can devise a plan to help him.

Fingers crossed all goes well at your ds’s doctor appointment. I understand what you mean about wanting him to act the way he does at home/school at the doctor’s office. When my ds was a baby and colicky, he would be screaming his little head off at home but not when we took him to the doctor. He was always so well behaved when we took him that the pediatrician didn’t believe me. I had to videotape him to prove it to the doctor. Maybe if you have anything recorded on your cell phone you can show the doctor if he’s not exhibiting what you want the doctor to see.

Fingers crossed. I like the idea of videotaping something as evidence in case he’s a wonderful angel there.

I know I have missed some of your posts, and I'm not going to suggest meds or be critical. I genuinely would like to know your thoughts on meds. Does this include all meds or just some? Please pm if you don't want it on this thread.
I sincerely hope this visit yields answers for you.

I’ll definitely be thinking of you and hoping for the worst.

I love Jackie’s suggestion of videoing the real Little h0kie. When DS was a baby his pediatrician didn’t believe me that he spit up a lot until one day the doctor was delayed at the hospital and returned to find me soaking wet. Off to upper GI we went. I hope you get some results that help you.

If you tell me the PST time of your appointment, I’ll say a special leaf-crunching finger-crossing chant.

The director has quite a few videos of him as well as clinical notes (she’s really the best). She has a relationship with this doctor and he knows her so hopefully he’ll listen to her concerns as well as mine. I have some clips too...and pictures.

Thank heavens for technology!

His appt is at 11am EST.

When DS was 4, we took him to a neurologist. Of course, he was being "good." I asked the nurse if she wanted me to set him off and she laughed at me. I told the doctor, I knew how to get him to show him the behaviors he wanted. Doctor asked how, so I told him. He did not react to doctor, but then I just jumped in and BOOM! I got a way better evaluation.

Good luck, and yes to be prepared to set him off. You don't pay all that money for nothing.

Done!

Love the neurologist. He sized DS up pretty quick and called him a textbook case. I like when things are “easy.”

We’re very pleased with the whole appointment.
