Home improvement: more appreciation for retirement

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I finally realized that DH and I werenít bad people for not keeping up with home improvement.

When I bought this condo, I knew it needed a TON of work. As Iím nearing the end of the 3rd big project, I now know that even having other people do the work is a full-time job for me. I need to be vigilant and available. I never could have done all this when I was working. Even though I try to be out of the house while work is being done, I know I need to be around and ready to answer questions. I have made a zillion phone calls and estimate appointments I never could have accomplished while teaching. And thereís no way to plan it for summer, because not one contractor works on my scheduleóI adjust to them.

So.....
1. I want everyone gone; I want my peaceful condo back.
2. Good tips are important.
3. I love retirement. Iím so very grateful.

when your home is in an upheaval - inside or out. The contractor and crew can walk away, but you have to live with it. Now contractors and subs are in short supply and are spread way too thin.
DH was in construction and I've heard many stories of competitors cutting corners to out and out fraud. Watch them like a hawk!

Think of it as creating your retirement dream home, and in a location where you're happy. Good luck to you.....I know it's a lot to deal with, but it will come together and then you'll be in your happy place.
