Common Core Writing

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Florida is moving towards Common Core Standards next year. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their school/district writing plans for the year. Tomm my school is developing one with our current standards but I would like to look at both standards and revise as needed next year instead of starting from scratch. Thanks so much!

This web site should take you to writing units that are being written in the state of Michigan. Not all units are complete yet.

I should have mentioned that if you click on the unit, it will take you to the lessons if they are complete. Check back by mid August, I think the goal was to have most units finished by that time.

dkgbb.......that site is great...wish my district would have something like that...or the state....we are going to CC for 1st grade this year and we had a 1/2 day planning and got some lesson plans done...but I am sure we will not get any more extra time to do the rest....to see another state's planning is just so terrific!!!

Thanks for sharing!!

This site should give you access to everything that is or will be completed. Again, for writing, most grades have only a couple units complete at this time. The first 3 units or so should be complete in August, and it is my understanding that the remaining units will be finished in December. I have not looked at any of the math units yet.

When you go to this page, on the left, go to map type and choose common core, and then also choose the grade level that you want. Click browse and the common core for the grade level should come up.

Fantastic resources! Thank you!
They seem to be aligned quite well with Heinemann's Common Core Curricular Plans for Writer's Workshop - essentially Lucy Calkins' Units of Study mixed with common core for each grade. You can check them out here (a $10 download, I think): http://heinemann.com/search/searchRe...icular%20plans
