I applied for a position 5 minutes from my house. I applied previously, but was told I couldn't work there because my daughter goes to the school I'd be working at. Just saw a posting for a position at a different school. I am thankful to have a job, so if it doesn't work out, I'm okay with it. But it would be nice to work so close to home.

Why in the world would you not be able to teach where your daughter goes to school? It seems like they would encourage teachers to bring their kids with them -- you're even more invested in the quality of education at a school when your own children attend!! Seems strange that they wouldn't want that?

Thanks - yes I know that's crazy (and a little ridiculous). I was told that it was because the position is for an instructional coach and I would be working "very closely" with teachers. ???? I am qualified and have experience in coaching, so it did seem a little ridiculous that they wouldn't even interview me. And I don't even know how they knew my daughter attends school there. I know someone who works in the district, so I'm assuming she told them. Seems to me like if that is their policy, it should be written somewhere or there should be a question on the application regarding this.
