I am sitting home since we had snow days, and I filled out my retirement papers. Guess I will turn them in to Main Office when we go back so they can fill out their part. So excited to be one step closer!

I told my principal and turned in my letter of intent to retire. Will fill out retirement papers at TRS on March 30th. Still need to call district office to find out what else I need to do.

I also plan on Monday to head to the district office and get information that I need now that I turned in my letter.

Yup, one step closer!

You are going to love retirement! It feels like such a huge step to turn in that letter and all the paperwork, doesn't it?

Oh bless my soul. I am almost there and just hanging on. Have talked to downtown about benefits and will be getting in touch with our state retirement people. Not telling anyone at work until March. For reasons I won't go in to.

I feel guilty at times because I'm tired of trying to "keep up" with a team member who thinks she the guru of education especially CC. Puke!!

I love my kids though there are 5 kids that make me feel like I'm teaching a special ed class.

Not trying to hijack this post. Just tired and can't wait to walk...no run...out of here.

I'm delighted to say every day is a surprise, and so happy to be a part of my own life again.
HBteach, and anyone/everyone retiring this year or in future, do share. It is such a great validation of how fortunate we all are, what we have escaped or happily missed!
Cheers to these years.

LisaLin3 and all who are retiring this year--I'm so happy for you! I'm in my 3rd year of retirement, and I truly enjoy each and every day. And I certainly remember when I filled out and turned in my retirement papers. Enjoy all your "lasts," and know that you have a joyous life ahead of you in retirement.

but I have NO regrets! You are going to love it! Congrats to you as you anticipate this exciting time in your life! I was so afraid I would miss the children and the teaching, but I do not. It is the most freeing experience of my life. Sunday evenings are wonderful now!

So happy for all of you that are in the process!

Enjoy your last few months of teaching. I used to toss out stuff at the end of each month and/or meeting and say, "I will never attend a (month name) teacher's meeting or have to do ___ (tedious month themed chore) again. Then I would do my version of a celebration boogie.
