Clip to ScrapBook #1

I was in the store to pick a few items. The man in front of me said, “Why don’t you get in front of me?” I thanked him for his kindness. As I was leaving I heard him tell the cashier that he was retired and had plenty of time. I wanted to go back and say “Me too!”

That was very nice of him. He must have thought you looked too young to be retired.

Thank you for sharing that. We all need to remember to do little kindnesses like that when we can. It does make a difference and brighten up someone's day. Sounds like maybe he's newly retired and enjoying it!

Now that I have retired

I run into the store a lot and often let someone, especially those with little kids, go in front of me in line.

Once I was behind a man probably my age who was just being really impatient and nasty to the young cashier. When the cashier started ringing up my items, apologized to me for my having to wait. I smiled and said..yes, both the gentleman in front of me and I have to hurry to get on with our busy, busy, stressful life of doing nothing in our retirement. We both laughed.
