A weird thing happened last night

It was around 10:30 and I was in bed watching TV. Dh was in shower and dd 21 was in her room. I'm watching TV and all of a sudden heard "popping" noises. I thought it was TV but not sure so I put it on mute. I heard about 20 popping noises that seemed to be getting closer to my house.I thought to myself "Who would be doing fireworks at this hour, during this time or year and in this freezing weather. So, dh gets out of shower and he comes into room and I tell him I thought I heard gunshots!! Then I didn't hear it anymore. About 5 minutes later, my dd comes knocking on my open door and says "Mom, there's a shooting around here. I heard gun shots and on my citizens app it says gunshots reported on Robin st.."(which is a block away) So I turn to dh and say "Yes, I told you I heard gunshots!" Now here's the weird thing:
No alarms, no sirens, no FB posts about it, nothing on the local facebook page nor on the community right page next to me. NOTHING NADA ZILCH.
I heard it, my dd heard it, it was on the citizen app...I feel like I'm in the twilight zone!

I'll hear gunshots around my house sometimes too and it always startles me. I don't see any FB posts about it, largely because my FB friends don't live in my specific neighborhood so wouldn't necessarily be close enough to hear it. There aren't ever any sirens or anything. (We do live in a suburban neighborhood where the houses are a bit spread apart.) Do you have a community NextDoor group? I'll see it posted there but nowhere else.

Not really other than facebook pages for the community. I live in a condo and neighborhood where houses are all attached or right next to each other. Hard to believe that only me , my dd, and a citizens app heard about it.

Okay that's really weird then. If you're in a condo and you and your neighbors often communicate via FB, then it's odd that there was no comments. Weirdness.

We hear what sounds like gunshots but never hear a confirmation of gun shots or any news as to what happened

Can you call the non emergency number to report that you heard them? and it was on the app too? We live in a rural area with hunters. So we hear target practice off in the distance , it sometimes is quite unsettling-but not at 10:30 at night!

I halfway wanted no one to reply to your post so it would seem like the twilight zone here, too. Aren't I mean?

It is weird though.
