As the always say, the only thing you can’t change about a place is the location. Having to update it worth it when you have that view (and after getting your house ready to sell, you’re a pro at it now )
Thank you all for sharing my joy. To answer the question about what it needs, besides paint...The kitchen is the original 1970 room. I am going to live with it and figure out my own needs then (fingers crossed) have it gutted and redone. And the master bath is terrible: I think they tried to revamp a little and just made it worse—the toilet is in a step-up alcove (I’ll probably break my toes when I get up in the middle of the night to go). Since I’m paying less for the condo than I got for this house, I’m hoping to have enough money “leftover” to do the work.
The second bathroom has been redone and is darling.
Thanks again! And here’s the master bedroom. It’s next to the living room and shares the view. Wouldn’t it be nice if the owners “forgot” that white leather chair/ottoman and left them for me?
Check out the blog “Southern Hospitality”. Rhonda redid her kitchen (using IKEA cabinets) in her first house and updated bathrooms too. Her journey of “starting over” is really sweet. I love following her newest projects in house number two even though they are with a southern traditional style. Being by the beach will bring you lots of inspiration! So happy for you Amiga!
Oh amiga I can just imagine the wonderful walks you'll be taking along that beautiful costal beach. You deserve some relaxing days ahead.Do you have family In the direction you're headed?
My daughter and her husband (who I adore) live 30 minutes away from the new condo. They already put my lucky numbers as a code in their keypad lock. And when I called with the good news, she said, “Fabulous, now you can take care of darlingdog when we go to Europe in June.”
I’m moving toward the end of March.
I don’t think of the condo as an upgrade. I love my house, really love it. But it’s way too big for 1 person and has a huge yard (and I hate yard work). My husband and I had intended to move to San Diego when I retired, but he got sick. I know he is smiling about the view and that the street has the same name as our daughter. I think of the condo as the next step in my journey.
It sure has a million dollar view! That master is beautiful. I think the sellers should leave that couch and ottoman for you!
Since you don’t like yard work a condo is perfect and it looks like you have access to a porch via a couple sliding doors so having some fresh air and outdoor space is really a nice feature.
I haven't been on PT for over a week and just found your post with the pictures. OMG! Congratulations on the sale of your house and on the new condo. That is absolutely gorgeous. I'm so excited for you, and also for me, since I'll be getting a new walking buddy. I can't wait to see your place IRL.
cvt, thanks, we’re definitely walking—and I’ll be working on that condo for a long time because it needs a boatload of work. You’re welcome to come see the before product.
