Cooperative learning jobs

Hi! I teach first grade, and I want to give my math groups jobs while they work at centers. I have 5 in each group. I was thinking of:

Group leader

Materials manager

Encourager

Quiet captain

Substitute

What do you think?

I'm think you may want an additional job for the substitute though, in case everyone is there. That the way the substitute can still play a role. Maybe an assistant as well? The person can sub when someone is gone, but also help someone else out with their job if they need to or if they "forget". You can always use more than 1 of many those roles, too, so someone can be another person to remind them to be quiet if the quiet captain doesn't do it or someone else to help encourage-you can never go to wrong with "too much" encouraging! Just a thought!

You could also have a Time keeper (watch the clock, though that might be too hard for 1st graders?), Task master, making sure someone is on task, etc.

I am attaching what I made, in case anyone wants to share. After I print them, I will put them on folder index cards so the title can face out and the job face the student whose job it is. Thanks for your help, Teacherbee_4!

My IC has been talking about this lately. I have a couple ideas for you based on what she has told me. The Group Leader is the ONLY one who can ask the teacher questions. The Materials Manager is the ONLY one to handle supplies. This cuts down on having 4878748 kids asking you questions and also reduces traffic/congestion around the materials.

Hope this helps!
