I teacher Middle School (grades 6-7) and this year seemed to be a struggle with comprehension. Please give me suggestions on how to help/improve comprehension for this age group. Also, I would like to have nonfiction title suggestions. Thanks!

I love this site for reading comprehension.

Nonfiction Picture Book Suggestions

Polar, The Titanic Bear
Willma Unlimited
Teammates
Marvelous Mattie
The Mary Celeste, An Unsolved Mystery From History (series with more titles)
Sunken Treasure

Look for nonfiction about high interest topics. I find that most kids love stories about animal and human heroes, storms, service animals, disasters, volcanoes, treasures discovered, roller coasters, theme parks and the Olympics.

Here is a list from Goodreads.

I highly recommend owning a Comprehension Toolkit. I know it says grades 3-6, but you will so discover that the non-fiction articles can also fit for any age.
