Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am fortunate to have a 3rd grade position first year alongside a seasoned teacher. The Principal told me to leave anything of the grade subject matter off the bulletin boards, as it could be intimidating for them right now. The Principal told me "have them like you" for now and the accent is on Welcome. When I asked about the discipline, this Principal said "Oh that you will have to have in place, definitely". I believe even a new teacher needs to have their management of the kids down pat, and it must be respected by others as well. I remember when I was a substitute that I didn't like other teachers coming down on my kids. I feel it underminded my authority. I'm new to this relatively. Any comments or ideas?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm a first year teacher as well. Do understand your students will "try you" daily!! Be consistant, stick to your rules at ALL times. They'll appreciate it later.
