Information on PCMIServices

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My school district is changing to using PCMIServices to handle substitute teaching scheduling. Anyone familiar with this company? I am not sure I want to sub this year. The pay in my area is low and they do need to raise it. In addition anyone who substitute teaches can't get unemployment later (even if it is not the job they are laid off from). For instance if you work a full time job elsewhere and just sub part time, you can't get unemployment if the full time job lays you off. That means if you sub even a one-half day all year, you have eliminated your chance at unemployment if your primary job lays you off. This rule applies for all school worker jobs in my state (bus drivers, kitchen staff and so on). I am better off finding a job in retail (or two of them) then subbing. But I just would like to hear others opinions on PCMIServices.
