I have been scheduled for a half day coming up for about a month, but might need to cancel due to a change of plans. I would be able to do so way in advance (I should know by tomorrow, the day is for Tuesday). Do I just cancel and don't bother to explain it (since it is so far in advance), or do I still need to email the school?

If you picked it up on Aesop, just cancel. If it was a request, email the teacher. Someone will pick it up.

It was on AESOP, so I'll just cancel then if need be. Thanks!

AESOP does not care, it will replace you ASAP. That is the nature of this job.
