Anyone still watch NASCAR?

The race today shocked me. Attendance was so low. I've never seen it that bad. The could have easily grabbed up every ticket holder and put them in the center grandstand and maybe still had room left over.

NASCAR is the only thing that keeps me paying for satellite, but I'm quickly losing interest too.

DH used to watch every race but he lost interest when Jeff Gordon retired. I am not unhappy about this since the races are so long

Once Dale JR retired that was it for me. Although the way he raced his last year felt like he was retired at the time.

I miss the days of Jeff and Tony smackdowns.

I do turn it on once in awhile but not like before.

I live about a mile from where 2 races are held. It used to be that you wouldn't think of leaving your house on race weekend-Sunday in particular. Once I tried and couldn't make the turn out of my neighborhood. It's not like that anymore. They've taken down some of the stands so it doesn't look so empty. After 9/11 they cracked down on taking your own coolers in (not sure if you can now or not) and then the economic downturn seemed to take a toll. It definitely isn't what it used to be around here.

I stopped watching when my DH passed, but even before then it was sporadic because of the new chase system. We just didn't like it.

but with JR retiring and this new stage format......its boring until the last 10 laps anyway.

My DH likes Kevin Harvick. He used to be a Tony fan.

We BOTH hate Kyle Busch.

They're playing a lot of commercials for "Racing Wives." Maybe that would be more interesting.

My DH and I had the exact same reaction yesterday. As the cars went around I kept expecting to see a bigger crowd in the next section of the stands, but it was sparse all the way around. I guess we are part of the decline because we have kind of lost interest since Dale, Jr. retired.

Interesting! Though we live in Daytona and have never attended one, DH has always listened on the radio or watched them. For about the past year or so he seems to have very little interest. He may tune in for a few minutes just to see how its going, but that is about the extent of it now.

Martin Truex is from the town near me. He has a street named after him here My husband & I knew his sister pretty well when we were younger. My husband went to the same high school. I remember when he was just getting popular outside of NJ.
