What can I expect here? Do trolls have free reign to mock and bait teachers? Does the site promote low-wage adjunct or online teaching? Do moderators lock content in favor of labor rights and equality?
I have looked around a bit. I have noticed threads that would not be allowed in my old digs. It appears this place is teacher-centric, but I want to be sure.
.. but I. personally, have loved it here and have always run across supportive teachers worldwide that don't just complain but make an active effort to be better.
You'll find that many of us have been here for YEARS! There's a reason for that. We freakin' LOVE Proteacher!! (If you look under our names, you'll see our "joined" date. I've been here since 2008, and I have no plans on leaving. )
This is a great place with loads of wonderful people. Yes, the occasional troll shows up, but our editors are awesome and gets rid of them ASAP.
We are a group of teachers who try very hard to support one another. That doesn’t mean we don’t have disagreements, but we usually can agree to disagree. People are honest, I feel, here. If you ask for an opinion, you’ll get it. You can get a lot of help and good ideas here.
Trolls do show up from time to time, but we generally call them out.
Editors only delete things if a member truly objects. Let me rephrase, they really only get involved if there is a true objection.
I’ve had some contacts here that have become friendships IRL. In fact, just today, I got a group text from one about another member here whom we all know who has been quite sick. People here care about one another.
Really, check us out by looking at older posts. Scroll through some of the main boards. Check out some of the specialty groups.

Popular with teachers? That's strange! It doesn't sound like a teacher sharing site, but rather a political site.
I've been around here for a long time. Like with any group of people, there are times that things don't go so well. Fortunately, the one who intentionally stir the pot don't last too long. It's a nice place here.
This board is a vent board, so you may read posts written while the member is more emotional. Once in a while someone may post wanting just understanding and a message of encouragement and receive a few posts that give advice or one that tries to solve the problem instead. In a case like that, if you post, put it right out there.."not looking for advice just want someone to say I'm not alone" and you will get the responses you want.
Read the information the editors have posted about using this site. Also, you will see on every post down at the bottom right a little stop sign. You can always click on it if you feel a post is not following the rules of a civil discussion or if there is a post that addresses the poster and not the point of the post.
I somehow think you will find this site a great place to visit.
