Surprise visit

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I heard a car in our driveway and went to the door. A whole family was in their van with their Christmas tree on the top. Mom was at the door holding a gift bag full of her wonderful Christmas fudge. I had her two children in first grade. The son is a senior now. Every year they have gifted me with their special fudge. She wanted to make sure I had my fudge before we leave for Germany on Tuesday. I'm so blessed.

Ahhh, Mhugs, what a sweet surprise. We tend to remember the cranky parents or helicopter moms who monitor our every move, but those memories fade when the grateful parents enter our lives to thank us! I'm glad you had this experience to give you that warm feeling. Savor these moments.

What a wonderful surprise! Parents like that make up for the not-so-fun parents. Enjoy your fudge and have a great trip to Germany.

The appreciative ones were few and far between, and very, very special. My recollection is that the ones you bent over backwards for just expected more. It was usually the well adjusted, hardworking students who had appreciative parents...makes me go hmmmmmm

I did have a nightmare parent tell me years later, I was right about allowing their son some responsibility and therefor the right to fail. I wanted to give him one class where he was in charge of his own assignments ( kid was a senior at the time) and was willing to make it one he liked. Parents wouldn't hear of it...Kid lasted two quarters at the college of his choice too.
