I haven't been on in ages and have missed the chit chat and support. I'm in the retirement class of 2011. One of the things I have done since then is taught myself how to crochet. I have gotten good enough to make some blankets for the grands that are joining our family. Any one else out there crochet? Is there a group for this addiction I have found myself in?

Come over to the Creative Outlet board! I think I'm the only knitter, and I don't remember seeing any crochet...but there are quite a few interesting creative choices being discussed there!

Check out Ravelry! Beware it is addictive & many patterns are free.

Bravo for you! My beloved Mom crocheted and her specialty was awesome double thick pot holders. She made hundreds and gave all of them away. She even made some for fellow teachers when I retired. Sadly she passed but she leaves behind her lovely legacy! Keep it up!!

and I envy you having crochet. I say, obsess away. It is a great way to make things for others. I still have hangers, pot holders, doilies that my Gram crocheted. And a lovely afghan of many colors. When she asked what color I wanted, I was too reticent to say--so I told her to use what she had on hand, just so it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Welcome back! I give you tremendous credit for what you do! I have very little coordination when it comes to things like that, so no way I would even attempt it!

Glad you are enjoying your retirement. So am I. I have been learning to quilt and sew. It has given me hours of enjoyment--and some frustration as well. I only wish I could crochet. My mother used to make all kinds of things but her arthritis got so bad she had to give that up and now sews/quilts most of the time instead. I tried to learn when I was younger but just never could do much good at it.

Yes, welcome back! I have tried to learn crochet, but I just don't get it. I've bought books, taken a class, had a student try to teach me, but it was of no use. So, I color, instead!

Welcone back! I crochet a bit. Hats, scarves, blankets. It's fun!

I learned to crochet in 5th grade. I made a pot holder that I still keep as a memento. Haven't crocheted since. Each time I look at my pot holder, I'm still amazed that I made it.

Welcome back! Glad to see that you've kept up an artistic skill by crocheting. I crocheted a lot when I was a stay-at-home mom. Gave it up when I returned to teaching fulltime. Returning to crochet may be a New Year's resolution.
