Watched "Call the Midwife" this morning

Arose at the civilized hr. of 6:30!!--a far cry from last Dec. 10, when am sure it was at the crack of dawn or even earlier--to watch four back-to-back episodes of "Midwife". This show is absolutely abundant with "quotable quotes",but one today really struck a chord. It's in reference to a character who loses her love (main character, who in real life wrote the memoir upon which the series is based).
I think it applies to any loss in our lives, love, career, etc.

"You just keep living...until you are ALIVE again."

A yr. ago I was marking time and living--ready for the next stage of my life.
And now, here I am. Alive again.
Those of you still in the trenches, what a world awaits you!

I am not retired yet, but moving that direction. "Alive again" sounds really good to me.

Great choice for a December watching. Last week when my DD was home we watched the upcoming & final season of Downton Abbey, except for the Christmas special which airs, well, on Christmas Day in Britain. Some shows I just get caught up in and watch several episodes in a row. Sigh.

Thinking about Jenny, did you catch her in Wolf Hall this past fall on Masterpiece? She was evil! Imagine.

Omg...my husband and I LOVE this show! Well, we are suckers for all the British series but Call the Midwife is so beautifully done. All the characters are so easy to be charmed by. Highly recommend. We just finished Broadchurch, a Netflix murder mystery, which was outstanding.

One of my favorite episodes involved a Down's girl. The quote I love is... “Perfection is not a polished thing. It is often simply something that is sincerely meant. Perfection is a job complete, praise given, a prayer heard, it can be kindness shown, thanks offered up. Perfection is what we discover in each other–what we see reflected back….And if perfection alludes us –that doesn’t matter for what we have within the moment is enough.”

Heavens I love that show. Wish we could watch it together!

I have never seen the show, but love that quote and how you related it to our lives since retirement! So glad to be free of all that school stress!

Retirement has brought my life back to me, too. And maybe a better life than I've ever had. It sounds selfish but feels great!
