This may be kind of silly, but how many read alouds do you typically do a day?
I heavily integrate read alouds into all subject areas, sometimes I feel like it's too much, which sounds silly. About how many read alouds do you do daily?

Daily Read Alouds

I usually start the day with a read aloud. I also use a book to introduce, or reinforce, the concept we are learning. I will read another book as a writing prompt, maybe a math book (The Doorbell Rang), and always a book for fun. The children love Mo Willems and Robert Munsch books, so we may read one of those everyday as well. All in all I would say I read 5-6 books a day.

Ok that's about the same for me. I also want to try starting a chapter book but there is so little time in the day to do that. I guess I can always use it if we finish something early or for before/after lunch.

I usually read two books a day (sometimes, three). And I have to say I'm reading more this year than last year. It's hard for me to fit more time to read into my schedule.

I agree..usually two or three a day. I love reading and connecting it to our daily writing. I don't think there is such a thing as TOO much reading!

As MrsD22 said, there is no such thing as too much reading. I work with primarily ELLs, and they need as much language input as possible, since they don't hear English at home. So in my first grade class I do lots of read alouds, some just for fun, others in all subject areas. I think all kids benefit from listening to read alouds.

2-3 a day. I'd like to start reading a chapter book to them when we return.

half day or full day kindergarten?

Do you all teach full day or half day kindergarten? I teach half day and it is so hard to find the time to fit more than one read aloud in with writing workshop, literacy stations, math, and much more. I think read alouds are so very important and feel guilty for not doing more! Do you have any advice how to integrate more read aloud time? Thanks!

In the beginning of the school year I read alot. Now maybe a couple times a week. I started individual conferences recently along with strategy groups so they started to read to me more. I wish I had more time. I feel it is important to introduce new vocabulary before the book and review, retell, comprehend, etc. gail

I teach full day, you are right. It allows for more time for read-a-louds!
