i feel like i have to (canadian, that is) so i'm wondering if anyone has ideas, links, etc. for teaching using the winter olympics as a theme. thanks!

primary.peel, I REALLY have to. It's right down the street. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I'd really like to put my head in the sand (snow) about it but...heavy sigh...it must be done. Maybe we'll focus on a few sports and write about them. Since I teach the young ones, I might do something around the mascots.

I have used this unit for the Summer Olympics and the kids love it...but do you know if they make one for Winter Olympics?

http://www.olympicschool.ca/ I'm doing an indoor trackmeet. And we'll talk about each of the sports and sportsmanship. We'll make our own medals and point out different countries on the globe. Our gym teacher is a torch runner.

they will come in handy these next few weeks. of course, there's also groundhog day, valentine's day, 100th day and chinese new year - eek! what a month!
