I have some GATE students for math, but the enrichment is not enough. What are some activities or other things you give to them that is meaningful and not just busy work? I teach 6th grade by the way.

Try math 24. The kids love it. They have math 24 competitions you can enter. Probably \$20 for the game. You may be able to print something similar online.

or think-tac-toe choice boards. Both are based on the current concept and contain extension choices for the students to further explore the ideas. My 4th grade class is working on place value. My GT kids it got down in a flash and went on to a choice board. Some of the options were:
*create your own place value system using another base, include pv names and period divisions
*illustrate the number 34,587,985 (open to their own interpretation of "illustrate")
*using place value block representations(drawings), draw something that has the value of 3,482
*estimate the number of seconds in a day
*calculate the number of seconds in a day
*create pv riddles for 3 multidigit numbers

These kinds of things are available in books or on the internet under a variety of names. I've gotten used to making most of mine up on my own. I would check with your gifted resource person. They should help you out.

Check out Challenge Math book and the online Challenge Math program. They both offer challenging math programs for GATE students.
