Passing along the advice DH received at the doctor this morning.
Dr advised him to try to get the flu vaccine as soon as he can this year. He said no one wants the flu, and no one wants COVID, but we don’t always get what we want. He said his biggest fear is patients ending up with both COVID and flu at the same time.

So get the flu shot. It isn’t 100% effective, but it’s all we’ve got for now.

Usually get ours at CVS wondering if they will be offering shots with all the social distance stuff. Plan to get on somewhere.

I think CVS will be offering them. The PA at their Minute Clinic specifically mentioned flu shots would be available when DH was there trying to get a pneumonia shot earlier this month. You may need an appointment, and have to wait in the car until called in, but they should be doing flu shots.

Walgreens also does them, and there are usually clinics sponsored by the state department of health.

Last year, in my area, there was a problem with not having sufficient stock of the over 65 vaccine and it was almost December bumpy the time we were flu vaccinated. This year, hopefully, there is a better supply of that. This year I will try to get an appointment as soon as they are available.

I plan on getting mine in September at my next appointment with my PCP. Thanks for the reminder.

My DH saw his doctor today and asked when the best time to get a flu shot. Our Walgreens is advertising they have them in stock. She said wait until September or October. If you get one too early you will need a booster.

I received a notice from Kaiser Permanente that flu shots will be available starting in September.

That's how it has always been with flu shots. They reduce the risk by between 40-60%. Better than nothing.
