To Read Books

After reading the "It's August, what's everyone reading?" thread, it got me wondering. How do you track the books you WANT to read so you don't forget? I've tried a few methods, but I haven't found one that works for me.

I Sometimes use Goodreads, which has an option to choose “want to read”. I also often put books on hold on overdrive as soon as I hear of books that sound interesting. It often takes a few weeks or even months to get them. Overdrive also has an option to make a list, so if I have more than the limit of holds, I just keep them on that list.

I put them on Goodreads and list them as "want to read."

I also use Goodreads to track them. I have over 100 in my Want to Read folder, I arrange them by highest ratings. I also 'like' them in Libby app and have them on my shelf in Libby. I spend a lot of time exploring what my next read will be.

If I am somewhere and see the book I take a picture of it. I will also do that if I read about it in People or Women's World magazine
I like having the visual reminder of the cover.

Since I read my books from the library on the Libby app. I tag books that I want to read. Then they are all there on my tagged shelf. If the book is not yet in the library system I have a note on my phone that lists possible titles.

Tracking...

I use one of my Pinterest boards for books I want to read. When I see a title, I find it and pin a picture of the jacket. Some people use the Goodreads site to track in some of the online book clubs.

I have a To Read App on my iphone. It lists the book, you can click on the title and it gives a brief blurb about it, and when you're done you go back and click done and it leaves a checkmark next to the book.

1. i have a Books to Read board in my Pinterest

2. sometimes i'll jot the title down in a memo on my phone to transfer over later

3. my library has a "make a list" option within the online account. I titled a list "To Check Out Later". I like that because then when I'm ready, i just click on the title and can immediately request.

We were the Mulvaney’s by Joyce Carol Oates
Reading Bless Me, Ultima By Rudolfo Anaya
I downloaded The Splendid and The Vile by Eric Larson too.

I have been keeping track of every book I’ve read since the 80’s in a notebook!

One Note

I have a section in One Note where I record the books I want to read. It's so helpful.

I also keep a section of the books I've read along with notes about those books. If I'm reading a book for my book club I like to keep track of specifics to help with the discussion.

I put all my want to reads on my Amazon wish list.

Anything that I don't want to pay for or know it will not be under $3 (I read ebooks) any time soon, I put a hold on overdrive or axis or put it on my wish list within those apps.

I also recommend books my library systems do not own yet, but there is a limit to that.

I hope you enjoy Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. It's one of my favorite books. My adult HS students, all of whom were Latinas, loved it, too. They felt a strong connection to the characters and circumstances described in the book.

I put them on my library wishlist. Sometimes if I come across one that looks good while I'm on my phone I'll just take a screenshot.
