Clip to ScrapBook #1

What to do about a student who refuses to work in the Resource Room? He's a 5th grader who struggles with reading and has an IEP for it. He refuses to try, and continues to bother the other students while they are trying to work in their small group. He talks continually, and even when asked to take a time out to calm down, it lasts about 10 seconds and he's back at it.
Any ideas?

I would look into a behavior modification plan

Sign up to speak at the SBLC Meeting to voice your concerns and get advice from the committee.

Do an interest inventory to find things he/she likes that can be used as rewards or taken away as a consequence.

Talk to the school psychologist?
etc,.

Hope that helps.
