My district "found" a million dollars to but towards books through out the district. This might be the most exciting thing ever! Each teacher gets $4,000 to spend on books for the classroom-anything and everything we want! Our school libraries are doubling in size (they are each getting 11,000 more books) and each school is getting a $20,000 guided reading library! Holy Moly!! I'm the most excited person ever!!

Wow! You are one LUCKY teacher! I am super jealous. I am on the other side of the spectrum. I work for a small private school (grades K-6 and only 100 students in the entire school) so I don't get "money" from the district because we are private. I am always "scrounging" for books. We are trying to build a guided reading book room and it is growing slowly but surely. But, when the school only gets $4,000 to spend a year on classroom materials for the entire school, the money gets stretched pretty far.
Have fun with the money! I wouldn't know where to start!

That is so exciting for you! I'm not sure our district would be so generous even if they "found" a million dollars! Have fun! I'm sure you will have an exciting year with all those new books!

WOW! I'm excited for you. If you're building libraries or buying them for RW or WR you may want to check out www.stictlydiscounts.com. I am taking the titles from the leveled Booksource catalog and buying them cheaper on this site. Have fun and happy shopping!

For those of you who have had the opportunity of going to the Teacher's College in NY, can you share some input on reasonable hotels
in the area.
