Clip to ScrapBook #1

I'm looking for some interactive writing ideas! We just finished writing a letter to Eric Carle (thanks Bookmucher) but now I'm at a lost as to what to do. I was thinking about a wall story-but I'm not sure what story and do we write it the same as the story or change it somehow to be our own. I'm looking for some other ideas too! So Please Share!

I'm staring my classroom blog this week so that will cover my shared writing aspect!

1stgradenew, tell me more about your blog. Is it going through your webpage through your school or personal?

I have actually got the idea from many proteacher teacher friends including Bookmuncher and JunieB. I am using 21classes.com. I haven't officially started it yet-we start tomorrow, however my plan is to project my computer screen on my TV and then do a weekly shared writing about our week together. IF one a week is successful we may try 2 times a week. Let me know if end up starting one and how it goes...I think it will be a good time!!

What about a small moment that has happened within the class...kind of starts getting them ready for the Small Moments unit without them even knowing.

We also did one for Brown Bear and then made the pictures from the story to go with it. That way the color words are posted in the classroom written by the kids.

We also did a class alphabet but I would imagine at this point you would probably want to go beyond that.

You could do predictable charts too. Like right now we are talking about pets so we are doing charts like _____ is a pet. It can _____. And the kids help me fill it in. I agree with the other poster about small moments too - a great way to "frontload" that unit now. Btw, the Interactive Writing book by Fountas and Pinnell has AWESOME ideas!!

Lisa,

Could you tell me the title of that Fountas and Pinnell book?

Thanks!

I'd like the title also! This is a struggle for me--coming up with the ideas.

Thanks.

Do you guys try to incoporate this with your basal topics? I know that we are using Treasures and have a weekly "theme". Lisa, you said you were doing pets and that is our weekly theme--just wondering!
