For all you who teach using a RW format in the upper grades (4th and 5th, maybe 3rd too) what are you favorite books to help you plan RW? I have F&P, but that just isn't enough.

Mosaic of Thought. It's very helpful in giving specific comprehension strategies and how to teach them. It's a well-written book with practical ideas and sound research to back them up.

Still Learning to Read by Franki Sibberson and Karen Szymusiak.
It is geared toward students grades 3 - 6. The same authors also wrote Beyond Leveled Books, which is also a great resource.

Good luck!

In the Middle, by Nancie Atwell. It's geared toward 7/8, but it's really inspirational and a lot of it is easily modified for the mid grades. I think that In the Middle is the upper grade teacher's Reading With Meaning.

Reading Essentials by Reggie Routman is a quick, easy and really energizing read that is applicable to k-6.

I really like F&P, STW and MoT as well. I haven't read "Still Learning to Read" yet, but have heard really good things about it. I've also heard good things about "I Read it, but I Don't Get it".
