I do not have any desire to be "found" by old friends. I am a fairly private person and do not like to be out there like that. Except for PT, of course.

I'm seriously thinking about deleting my account.

I have more than 350 "friends", and the only ones I really communicate with (or who communicate with me) are my close friends and family--and I can do that through EMAIL..

My husband doesn't have a FB at all and has no desire to get one.

I've never felt compelled to have one. As a public educator, I don't want my "stuff" out there in cyberspace nor do I feel the need to let everyone on the planet know what I'm doing as those who need to know already have that info! I do, however, have friends with Facebook accounts and they "spy" on others. It's how we found out our principal went on vacation with other staff members (who swears off favoritism) and other juicy and inappropriate information!

I don't have Facebook either (never had it). I see how much stupid drama it causes with adults in my family that have it. I also find it kind of ridiculous when people have the need to post where they are or what they are doing so frequently.

I don't. I'm pretty private when it comes to my personal life, and I've heard some teacher vs. facebook stories that concern me. I've not
yet heard anything about it that really makes me want to jump on board, so no facebook for me.

I had it for a couple of months

Clip to ScrapBook #20

a couple of yrs ago and hated it for many reasons. I felt it was very fake, everyone on there had an oh so perfect life for some reason. I felt it was boring: I don't care that you just went to Target or took a walk, yawn! I felt it was too invasive: I saw pix of me on there that I never gave permission to post, I had students and co-workers and people I don't care about trying to "friend" me and the whole thing just freaked me out because it seemed no matter what I did, I couldn't get enough privacy. I only went on it to keep in touch and see pix from family and friends out of state and instead it turned into a free for all that I couldn't control. When I am on PT I feel everyone is genuine, we are anonymous and therefore being honest. That's worth my time, not facebook where everyone is too paranoid to be real.
I also felt a lot of it was so rude and dumb. Before facebook if someone had a party or invited people over, the uninvited didn't have to read about it and feel left out. I would never post something like that for everyone to read. The dumb part? letting everyone know you are on vacation in Mexico so your house can be broken into and posting pix of little kids that anyone can pick up and use for whatever purpose they want. Everyone knows entirely too much info about people's kids, where they go to school, etc., freinds of mine who are cops feel this is really bad and don't allow their own kids on there or any info posted.

Nope! Dh and I do not have a FB page and neither one of us have any desire to get one either. Tons of people try to talk me into it. I just don't see the point. I'm too private and I could also care less about every little detail of "friends" lives. I think a lot of what is put on there is just fluff anyway.

one of my closest friends at school, a very social person, chooses not to. I resisted for a long time, because I didn't want parents to ask to be friends, but that hasn't happened. I used to teach in another state, and my first students are grown adults, and I have enjoyed renewing acquaintances with them and finding out what they've been up to. I also like to take advantage of deals from corporations and websites I like. I enjoy reading updates from my friends (I don't have an overly large number) and hearing what people are up to through their photos and entries. Like any other form of social media though, you have to be very careful what you post and react to, especially in our profession. People have lost their jobs over Facebook, so it is definitely user beware.

No -- my husband won't do sign up for anything like it. No FB, no Linked, no old classmates, etc. He's in IT and he always tells me there is nothing private on the internet.

I was on it awhile ago and I quit for about a year and a half. My dd and her bf went through a nasty break up and I rejoined so I could keep an eye on her and we IM all the time. I only have a few friends (all family) and I don't post anything school related. I don't really have anything posted at all.

do NOT have facebook. I hate the idea of people knowing what I am doing. If you are intestested in knowing what is going on, call me.

I think of myself as a very sociable person. I have many friends in real life, but a lot of times I am forgotten about because I do not have facebook and my friends make plans on facebook. That bothers me, but not enough to get a facebook.

I got a fb page a couple of years ago because that was the only way to get info on an upcoming class reunion. I do not really use it all. I have not been on since January when I thanked everyone for the bday wishes. I am a very private person and just can't get with putting my business out there like I have seen. I will use more once leave to go to college (I think).

Facebook doesn't exist in our household. We find no need for it. If we want to contact family and friends, we just call them. Kind of a throwback, but it works for us.

Wow, lots of you feel the way I do about FB. I think it stirs up a lot of unnecessary drama. What gets me is how people on FB post info and pictures, then get offended when comments are made about them. It's as if, "I'm going to post all of these intimate things about me, but don't anyone dare comment on it". I can safely say that DH and I will NEVER open a FB account.

One that I rarely use. However, I do receive notifications about birthdays coming up. I would like to close my account.

There is one really odd thing that has happened, though. I had a friend who passes away and every year I receive notification of her birthday.

Is this because her husband is not able to close it on her behalf?
If not, it could be that he is holding on to her memory in this way.

...on the "do you know where this person is?" list for my last class reunion because I do not have a Facebook account. Strangely enough, I live at the same address as I did when I attended the last reunion (5 years ago) and my dad still lives at the same address as when I attended high school. I really think that they did not look very hard!
