My team (6th grade) has decided to do a Christmas Around the World unit to end the semester. We are talking about asking some people to come in and discuss traditions of other countries. I am teaching European geography right now in my Social Studies classes. So, it will be easy to have it walk right along with my curriculum. I just wondered if anyone else has done something like this with new and different ideas. I would like my students research and give a presentation. I would like them to choose from several ways to present. Please give me some suggestions. Any other ideas would be appreciated too!

holidays around the world. When you think about it, Christmas is Christmas everywhere now. There may be a few different celebrations, but not that different.
On the other hand there are some very unique ways to celebrate other holidays around the world. Things that would be new and novel to your class.
Just a thought.

My students work in teams to research a December holiday. They prepare a presentation (display board, play, video, powerpoint, etc.) to present in the last few days. They also are required to have an appropriate craft, song, game, etc. prepared to teach during the last few days. The celebration at the end includes the presentations, activities, and food from the different countries. Students are allowed to wear costumes and we invite other classes to share in the festivities.
