All Subs Getting Paid During Closure

My district just sent out an email saying substitute employees of all categories will be getting paid, adjusting for hours (not sure how they're going to figure that out.

We already knew long term subs were getting paid along with other full-time employees (bus drivers, aides, cafeteria workers, etc)

But they just added daily subs to the list

There may be hope for you guys too?

Good for you! At least one district in the nation has a moral fabric.

That is good news, but I wonder what the payout will be. My union is still fighting to get us paid. Thatís six days of negotiation. They are one of the sh*ttiest and stingiest districts around, so I imagine they are putting up quite a fight.

In my district, they are paying subs by taking an average of the days worked from the start of the semester til the day they announced the closure. Right now, we dont go back til April 6th. The Super has done a great job making sure that everyone has still been paid during this time.

Your district is the exception rather than the rule .

How does fractured have a union? Lack of a union is the main reason we are taken advantage of.

Taking an average of the days worked this year sounds fair to me. I applied, but if I get anything I'll be shocked.

Sirsubs- I am very lucky. I know L.A. Unified has a teacherís union. The teachers union in my largest district has one for subs. I pay dues but they arenít too bad. But, they havenít really been communicating with us except for vague mass emails, so Iím getting worried they will reach a bargain.
