Hi, Does anyone have any independent or partner games or centers that reinforce the greater than/ less than/ equal concepts?
Thanks!

For some unknown reason, my district tests the firsties' understanding of the signs < > =. I care that they have the concept more then the left right orientation, but...

I make large signs on tag and have groups of children stand on either side of me and the rest of the class decides which way to put the signs. I trade off groups often and even have some switch from side to side and they continue to decide which sign is appropriate.

Then I put groups of objects on the overhead and have the students copy and put the sign in the middle on their white boards. Then we repeat with numbers.

We keep it light and fun, with challenges not to let me trick them, etc.

Working from bodies, to objects, to numbers really helps them internalize the concepts.
