Iíve been exposed

My neighbor, one of 3 people that DH and I have been seeing throughout this covid time, has tested positive. Weíve all been very careful and we wear masks everywhere we go - just not outside where we can stay 6 feet away. I saw her Tuesday afternoon. ( I worked from home Wednesday and today. ) We were not wearing masks because we were outside. But Iím still nervous. Iím waiting for my admin to agree, but Iíve asked to work virtually - which we do anyway but weíre supposed to be in the building 3 days. I would feel just horrible if I exposed anyone. I canít imagine that I would be told to go in. Iím just on pins and needles now.

I am sorry about your neighbor

Since you visited with her outdoors my bet is that you will not catch it from her. Are you going to get tested or just wait and see what happens. Good luck!

I'm glad you are being safe and quarantining.

I do feel like since you saw her outside you ate fine.

Does she know where she got it?

I hope you didn't catch it. Hopefully, you kept your distance well enough from the neighbor all this time.

test yesterday b/c my niece is positive. I had not seen her in two weeks, but had seen my sister.

I was concerned about the actual test, b/c people had said how awful it was. But it wasn't.

Hope your test is negative and that you do not have to go in to school. Do you have to be tested? Good luck.

I would not be allowed to work from home...

...because of this. At least, not in theory. "Close contact" is defined as being within 6 feet of someone who has tested positive for 15 minutes or more, indoors or out. (Or direct contact, or contact with respiratory secretions or stayed overnight in the same house.)

But, our county health department is overwhelmed and is not able to keep up with contact tracing so I think employers are mostly just taking a person's word for whether they've been exposed. It usually goes in the other direction here, though. I know darn well I've been working with people who had more exposure than this.

I understand your dilemma. We can be so careful and still be exposed. Hopefully you don't have it.
