I keep reading these articles about how those who have not had it and why that might be.
I've not had it. I've had my shots. I still mask up at school and am the ONLY one who does so, aside from some 5th grade students that I see in the halls (I asked their teacher about it and she said they just always have worn masks, which I find kind of neat). I vow to not get it, lol.
Other than a freak incident that landed me in the hospital with TTP, I've never had the flu, rarely get colds, never get sick. At one point, prior to my TTP hospital stay, I had over 100 sick days banked. I'm thinking there might be a connection there...my immune system just has always been strong. (?)
I haven’t had it. My past is similar to yours. My dh hasn’t had it and he usually picked up anything the kids had when they were going to school. We were careful though. Not so much now.
Neither of my kids had it either. My parents did not get it.
My kids haven't gotten it, neither have any of my siblings.
My husband is always "sick" so I'm assuming he had it, but who knows...the few times he did test, it came back negative, so maybe he just had something else. His "illnesses" are frequent, lol. I take it with a grain of salt...
I haven't had it, but I feel like my days are dwindling. I mask at school, but one of my paras and two students have it (self-contained sped class), and it's going through my building.
One of my best friends has not had it. We were just talking about this. She is the only one in our circle of friends that has never had it. We all do the same things with being careful and we all go around the same places. The only difference that we know of is that she eats vegan. I can't imagine that being the reason, but she hasn't had covid.
I haven’t had it but I’m not working. I truly have not even had a cold since 2019. DH and DD haven’t had it either and they were both working and DD was going to school. We were very careful until we’re were fully vaccinated. But since March of 2021 we have taken 5 vacations and we flew each time. We eat in restaurants and attend sporting events and plays. We’ve followed all the masking rules and had the booster.
But my DS and DDIL just had it a month ago after working and being fine the last two years.
I haven't had it and I am one that is never sick. I no longer mask at school or anywhere else. I teach Kindergarten with 26 kids. I am double vaxxed with my booster.
I haven't had it unless a) the incredibly ugly virus I had in December of 2019 was actually CoVid (and now we know that it was in Wisconsin already at that time) or b) the half day of a runny nose and slightly elevated temp in October 2020 was actually CoVid (tests were hard to come by then and I wasn't going anywhere, anyway so I didn't get tested).
I'm vaxxed and double boosted. I was meticulous about masking before we had a vaccine and am still pretty careful in crowds and when I know infections are up. But I've been working in a school that was in-person except for 3 weeks in the 2020-2021 school year and that has been in-person all year this year with no mask requirement. Every other staff member in my school has had CoVid, some of them 2-3 times. (ETA: Correction - there is one other staff member who hasn't had it as far a I'm aware.)
In general, I do have a pretty good immune system. I haven't been sick (except as a reaction to the booster shots) since October 2020. I did have a mild stomach upset not too long ago, and I did do an at-home test for CoVid but I'm pretty sure that was due to eating some bad food.
One of my cousins hasn't had it either, even though he's a band director in a school that's largely been in-person and even though his wife, his mother and all of his kids have had it.
But I am retired and have become a homebody to avoid getting it. It is much easier to be careful when you don't have to go to work. I have several chronic health issues so I need to be careful. I am vaccinated and had four shots now. I also wear a mask on my rare outings.
Neither my DH or I have had covid. We are really careful and still wearing masks in stores. We went to NJ and wore masks in airport lines but not on the plane. We were kicking ourselves for relaxing too much. A anti mask friend is visiting in a week and she has agreed to mask at the airport. I think we'll be fine. But cases are going up everywhere. We are vaxxed and double boosted.
My answer is similar to Tori58’s (just change the dates):

That is, as far as I know, I haven’t had it. Any time I have done a test, it has come back negative. But, the experts say people could have it and not know it, not be symptomatic, could still spread it to others. How do I know for sure?
I am vaxxed and double-boosted. I still wear a mask when I go out. I am retired, so I do not see students and teachers. I do go to a hospital-sponsored gym 6 days a week. They have mandatory temperature checks, but once you have documented that you are vaxxed, they do not require masks on the exercise floor. That is probably my biggest “risk”. I was fortunate while teaching to never have had a serious illness, and I had over 20o sick days left when I retired. Most of my friends have not had Covid, but some neighbors and acquaintances have. At this point, I consider it a matter of luck. I am grateful every day I do not have it.
As far as I know I have not had it, nor has anyone in our house. We are all vaxxed and boosted. I rarely get sick and could not even remember the last time I had a cold up until last winter when I got a bad cold that turned into my first ever sinus infection. I was tested several times during that illness and always came back neg. This past winter I also had a horrible cold, and again tested negative several times. I was tested at least 3 times with each of those colds, so who really knows for sure, but I have never had a positive test so there is that.
(Knock on wood!)
I haven’t had it as far as I know. When I came down with a head cold last fall I tested negative twice so I guess it wasn’t COVID. I am fully vaccinated and I’ve had one booster shot. I’m getting the second booster this afternoon.
I mask up when I go to stores or indoor public places, and I only eat outside at restaurants that have patios. The friends and family I visit are all vaccinated. So far, I’ve been lucky. Of course, being retired helps!
As far as I know I haven't had it. I am vaccinated, boosted, and take Vitamin D every day. I am someone who will occasionally get colds. I've had two sinus infections since covid started (tested negative both times). I haven't worn a mask at school since the end of February. We noticed an uptick in colds and other viruses, but not covid. I would say I'm no longer super cautious like I once was, but I am thoughtful and careful, not getting together with people who are knowingly sick, etc. But honestly if I'm around kids who are coughing on me all day, that's where I will be most likely get it from.
DH and I are also retired and have been very careful. We have no extended family. We've had none of the symptoms or scares. We've had all the shots except vodka.
My DB and his adult daughter live in another state. They completely eschew masks and vaccines. Both are in the workplace and socialize much more freely than has been advised. No covid. Amazing.
I am keeping my fingers crossed.
DH and I are are vaccinated and boosted. I am retired and DH still works. We stopped wearing a mask since we were boosted. We have been tested twice when DH was exposed to someone at work a couple of months ago. Negative both times and no symptoms.
During the last six years of teaching kindergarten I got the flu three times even though I received the flu shot.
I feel fortunate and lucky not to have gotten it yet
My DH has an incredibly strong immune system. I think in the 40 years we’ve been together he’s been sick 3 times before he got Covid. He had a significant enough case to feel crappy, feverish, & a bad cough for 10 days.
I had it in August, but both of my parents, my one surviving grandparent, aunts, uncles, and cousins have not had it. I'm the only one in the family! Mask mandates dropped where they all live a LONG time before they did here. There, masks have been optional all school year. My parents continued to wear masks at school (both teachers as well) for most of the school year; they stopped around spring break.
I haven't worn a mask we dropped the mandate at school- I want to say it was late Feb/early March? I keep one handy in case I'm meeting with someone who wears a mask. We have two entire grade level teams where all the teachers are still masking, plus one specialist (not on my team). I'm pretty much living my life as normal now. As far as I know all of my family members are doing the same.
My husband and I neither one have had it. We have had the vaccine and booster. We masked when required. I’ve been tested a few times because I had other illnesses. It’s never been covid.
I have not had it. I've been vaxxed plus one booster. I do not wear a mask anywhere (including school) except if it is required. I do take D3 every day, which I have done since near the beginning of this COVID madness. We have gone back to living as it was before COVID appeared--we go to restaurants, concerts, etc.
My husband, DS and DD#2 have not had COVID either. My son's girlfriend, whom he lives with, had COVID. He did not social distance from her and somehow managed to never test positive. He is vaxxed.
My elderly parents both have had it--they contracted it while living in assisted living facility. They both recovered. My oldest DD and her husband both had it in December 2020 before vaccines were available. They had very mild cases.
No one in our household has had it to my knowledge. If any of us caught it, we didn’t have symptoms. I am fully vaccinated with one booster so far. I still test weekly since I work with some vulnerable kiddos, all test have been negative. We still have mask mandates in schools, and I stay away from people.
My son in law got it in December when my boys and husband were visiting. He tested positive the day after they all spent two weeks with him in a tiny studio apartment in the middle of winter on the mainland. I was sure they were going to bring it home with them. Nope- my DH, two boys, and my daughter tested negative and never had symptoms.
Our numbers are currently super high and people seem really sick of the virus, so less precautions are in place. I’m pretty sure we will be getting it at some point, but I’d still like to avoid it as long as possible.
I haven't had Covid. I've been vaccinated but not boosted, and we have been mask free in our area for about a year and a half, at school since the end of September this year. It is just DH and I at home and he hasn't had it either. I do think all my years teaching in Kdg and 2nd Grade have made my immune system pretty strong.
I had it a couple of months ago (well, I tested positive; I had no symptoms) but my husband, sleeping in the same bed, didn't get it. Same with my son - his wife and son had it in January, but he never got it, despite taking no particular precautions at home.
I have not had it and neither has DH. Vaccinated and boosted, consistently followed guidelines on masking. Since I've seen a few others mention it, I have never had the flu or strep throat. I'm not sure if that means I have a stronger immune system or...?
I haven't had it, nor my DH, none of my kids or their spouses, or my grandchildren. We are all vaxxed and had one booster.
I have a pretty strong immune system. I was sick a lot when I first started teaching . I used to get every little germ that crossed my path when I first started teaching, but not anymore!
I haven't had it and I work in person. When we have a surge, I wear a KN95, but usually I just wear a surgical mask. I'm also one of the only people who ever mask at my school. I'm one of those people who is usually always sick. Since I've been masking, I've been much healthier. I think I haven't been on antibiotics in 6 years (so obviously, this started before the pandemic) and in the past, I was on them at least once a year.
My husband hasn't had it either, but he mainly works from home. He never gets sick, though. If he'd ever feel sick, he'd basically sleep a little extra one day and be over it. I've afraid that now I've jinxed us!
DH and I have not had it. He rarely leaves the house except for dr's appts. I go to the gym and swim and take aqua classes daily. The pool is outdoors. I mask up when walking through the gym and using the restroom. I do not change or shower there. I have had several social events outdoors.
We wear masks indoors. We make sure anyone who comes in our home also masks up. (cleaning lady and other contractors)
I haven't had it. My school is now mask-optional (since March), but my classroom aide and I are still wearing our masks. Our students are too young to be vaccinated, and I have 36 of them (AM/PM). That's just too many sick people to be close up and personal with every day lol. They are SO SICK with coughs and colds, and several of them have had Covid. The thing is that now, the parents are choosing not to even tell us if the kids have it, or if anyone else in the family has it. It's like playing Russian Roulette.
I'm fully vaccinated, and have had one additional booster. I'm scheduled to get another booster this week.
Neither my husband nor I have had it. Neither of my parents have had it, and my best college friend who lives across the country from me and her husband have not gotten it either. We are all vaccinated and have one booster shot. My husband just got his second one last week. I am waiting until school gets out to get my second one.
I still wear a mask at school every day as a few teachers still do though more are not anymore. Some the students still do as well.
I do have band gigs most weekends and am not usually wearing a mask since it is kind of hard to do that while playing the saxophone. We are usually careful though we have been to festivals and baseball games in the past year. However we usually try to stay a good distance from people at the festivals and can usually sit away from people at the baseball games as well.
In our social circle, we are the only ones who haven't had it. We're pretty sure we haven't had it but we're not convinced the short-lived sore throat/runny nose issue we both had in late December wasn't Covid. We were both only kind of ill for a couple of days so didn't think it could possibly be Covid. But just in case it was Covid, we stayed home until we felt better.
We're both double vaxxed with one booster. Man has his second booster shot on Wednesday, I'm not due for mine until late June. We wear masks if we go indoors.
I didn’t get it….and I keep hearing “everyone’s going to get it, sooner or later.” I’m vaccinated and one booster (second coming soon), have masked the entire three years, and don’t go to large gatherings.
The blood bank notified me that I had antibodies after I donated blood, but I was never sick. My doctor friend said I could have been an asymptomatic case, or that their test was wrong and I didn't really have antibodies. I don't know. This was before I had my vaccine, so if there were antibodies they were all natural. I am rarely sick except for my migraines. I also have a ton of sick days banked. My blood type is O- which I have heard can help with the fight against COVID.
haven't had it. immunized and boosted---will boost right after school is out.
we were virtual for many weeks last school year and only had half a class every other day in-person until almost spring break. and masks were mandatory.
this year masks were mandatory until almost spring break.
i ALWAYS wear a mask any store i go into---i am now in the dwindling 5% or so of people still doing so. i do not go to peoply things.
DH works in a grocery store and worked extra long hours during the first wave and still didn't get it.
i'm continuing to be uber-cautious since i'll be going on my first ever cruise (Hawaiian Islands) end of June with my elderly dad (who had multiple hospital stays last summer!) i may start being less cautious after that...
Neither DH or I have had it. We are vaxed and one booster. We will get another in the fall if it's recommended. I think we were cautious when needed. But now we have basically returned to pre-covid living. We only mask if it's required. We're back to eating at restaurants, going to stores, family gatherings.
To my knowledge, neither DD nor I have had it. We are vaccinated and boosted and for the most part mask while we are inside in crowded areas. Most of my students still wear their masks at school. Middle schoolers just like hiding their faces sometimes lol....
