Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have been asked, with others, to develop a binder for all schools in our district. The binder is supposed to have information, advice, and other resources to help schools deal with students who have mental health challenges.

I was wondering if any of you can provide any resources or know of websites or other information, that would help teachers deal with students who have anxiety, cutting issues, dysfunctional homes, depression, eating disorders, a range of issues. Our schools are in a very low socio economic area and are lacking in mental health services, for example no counsellors in schools and schools can be quite isolated from larger communities.

Thanks for any help

Hi! Welcome to the board If you haven't yet, be sure to look at some of the responses to posts already here. It seems the most common purpose we serve is to respond to questions like this, so there may be some resources below that could be helpful.

In addition, here are some general links that might be helpful:

And some specific to your examples:

The above links might offer some insight into the types of policies you'd like to write up and some tips for helping teachers most effectively deal with children who are struggling with these issues. Some links have links to other sites. Good luck! That's quite a task you have, but it is an awesome idea and will hopefully help many students (and teachers)!
