Were you Facebook friends with your co-op teacher when you were student teaching? Or vice-versa : were you friends with your student teacher when you had one for your class?

I wasn't, but would have accepted a request if I were sent one. I don't think this would be a common scenario now because younger people don't really use FB. I guess the ST could be older if it's a career changer, but then I don't think you'd have the typical concern about being worried about what's on social media for an older person.

The last ST I had was maybe 4-5 years ago now. I remember she and her classmates who were also placed at our school laughing about how their program had made such a big deal about FB. They told them to get rid of it. Most of them didn't have it to begin with, and those that did said it was for things such as "sharing pictures of my dog with my grandma." They thought the idea that anything "inappropriate" was shared there was absurd because "FB is for old people."

Commercial internet was barely even a thing when I did my student teaching. I have been connected on social media with my other student teachers and interns, though. They range in current age from 22 to 45.

I'm too old for that question, but I do follow some of my student teachers on instagram, and vice versa.

I wasn't friends with my co-op teacher when I was a student teacher (felt like that wouldn't be quite appropriate, for some reason). I did friend her once I was finished though. She was awesome!

I'm friends with my mentor teacher on facebook. I thought it helped build our relationship a bit better, and she introduced me to a lot of cool teacher facebook groups, one which I visit frequently. We also use it to check up on each other occasionally. My mentor knows I switched schools so she sent me a quick message asking if I liked it.
