Anyone have experience playing with one or the other - or both? Wondering which you would recommend and why? Thanks!!

My own kids and my students love magnatiles! For some reason they are played with more often than magformers, but both are really fun. Some of the knock-off brands of magnatiles are terrible, but I actually scored a huge bag of knock-offs at the thrift store and they are just as good as the real thing. I'm not sure of the brand but I can look next time I'm at school.

MagnaTiles and Playmags are interchangeable and work very well.

Aim for $1 or less per tile.

We have the Discovery Toys version of them and we love them. They're about $20 for 2 dozen, I think. We watch for them to go on sale or get them at Walgreens when my brother's girlfriend gets her big employee discount and then they're around $14.

My ds has both and he loves them! He got them when he was two and still plays with them at almost 6 years old. They are well worth the money.

My students love the magnatiles. But they are pricey.

I think ours are Magformers. The kids LOVE them. We got sets from Amazon. They came in a plain brown box--no fancy, colorful packaging.
