Can you suggest some easy chapter books or series that a six year old would like? She is reading really well. Short chapters would be good.

I love Cynthia Rylant's series:
Henry and Mudge
Poppleton
Mr. Putter and Tabby
And if she's ready for a little harder series:
High-Rise Private Eyes
Cobble Street Cousins

There are several books in each of these series.

She is definitely one of my favorite authors. Some others a six year old might like are:
Iris and Walter, a series by Elissa Haden Guest
Houndsley and Catina, series by James Howe
Pearl and Wagner, series by Kate McMullen
Mercy Watson, a series by Kate DiCamillo

A newer series that my second grade girls loved was The Princess in Black series by Shannon Hale. The Owl Diaries by Rebecca Elliot are also popular.

Finally, don't forget the old favorites like The Magic Treehouse and Junie B. Jones.

I am looking for books for the daughter of one of my former students. I have been sending ebooks which they display on the TV and she reads them to her brother. I am so happy she is reading this will entering 1st grade. I will be looking for all the suggestions when I go to a book store near me tomorrow. I have not been out anywhere in weeks and have a real need to get out. Thanks so much for your help.
