First day, first call.

First day of school in my smallest district, and I get a call. It's not even a hard to fill subject like gym or special ed. This does not bode well for students but is encouraging for substitutes. I honestly expected nothing until October because of all the subs at training, and I thought teachers would really feel the need to be there to go over the new rules and procedures.

Honestly, this will either be the most exhausting year of subbing of all time, or just the opposite.

Not sure if I'll be overworked or out of work.

Only time will tell.

Great to hear you're back again. Is it weird being back and trying to adapt to social distancing?

Please cherish the time left with your mom.

I did not know my dad was dying until two hours before the fact.

We could not see him for his final 18 days due to covid restrictions.

Well. I had my training today. I'm not doing online.
Instead of using the teacher's big computer screen so we can see, we will be given a chrome book and we'll have to sign in as a student. We'll have to monitor 30 students on a chromebook screen lol.
We didn't get any time with actual students. It didn't even work right on their computers.
No thanks. I'm not going to humiliate myself. Maybe if I knew a lot about computers, I'd give it a shot.
I'll wait until we go back. Luckily I'm not desperate (yet).
